Jesus didn't "Will" - He Did. He didn't "Promise" - He Did. The leper came to Him Saying, "Lord, if you Will, you Can make me clean". The leper stretched out his Hand and touched Jesus, Who said "I Will; Be Clean." Other translations: "'If you want to... Of course, I Want to.'" "'If only you will... Indeed I will'". "'If you are willing... I am Willing'". |
"Willing" is for us Humans Will power Promising and Actual effort. For Jesus the Son Of God, these are All the same. Jesus did not SAY First - and Later do - He DID first - He stretched out His hand - and Only then did he say, "'I will'". Humans without Jesus Promise and "Will" to do - but Jesus IS Will- He is the Want - and the Power - and He can be Our Will Power and our first Want - and then We will Be Free of Want As we rest in His Power - and Love. 5/1/84 |
COMMENTARY We are always confusing our "needs" and our "wants". If we get closer to Jesus, both our true, eternal needs and wants will be less. We are good at promising, more like "pros at missing", this and that to ourselves and others - promising we "will" do this or that, when, if we seek His will in our lives, we will actually be more like Him and do more for Him without so much jawing about it.
